The Grilling Adventures Continue

Tonight for dinner I made two more things from blogs I found through Pinterest:  Steak with Balsamic Reduction Sauce and Roasted Asparagus with Feta.  Both were EXTREMELY easy and could be done on a work night if I was working this week 😉



I turned on the grill to get it heated up, and took the steak out of the fridge to let it come to room temperature.  Did you know that you should let burgers and steak come to room temp before cooking?  Otherwise the outside will cook faster than the inside and you’ll get a burned steak on the outside and rare steak on the inside!    Then I turned the oven on 350 degrees.  Meanwhile, I prepared my asparagus as described in the blog above, and the steak as well.  I put my asparagus in the oven at the same time I placed my steak on the preheated grill.  I cooked the first side of the steak with the top down and it got a good crisp due to the sugar in the rub, and then after about 5 minutes I flipped it, and cooked the other side with the top open. The entire steak was done within 10 minutes, and it was cooked perfectly medium.  While this was cooking, I prepared the balsamic glaze which was very easy (AND TASTY!)  I let the steak sit for about 5 minutes while I set the table, and then I took the asparagus out of the oven and was ready to serve!

My husband and I both loved the steak, though it was spicy! He really liked the asparagus, but I think I could have done without the red pepper flakes.   All in all, a great and easy meal though!
